Foods that will Increase the Hemoglobin Levels in the body!

Hemoglobin is the iron-rich in protein that is found in red blood cells. Its functions are to carry the oxygen to the body’s different parts. It’s essential that you maintain normal hemoglobin within the body so that every function takes place well. Flowing in the hemoglobin level that every woman and man should maintain:

  • Woman: 12-16 g/dl
  • Man: 14-18 g/dl

If there is a lack of this essential nutrient in the blood, then you start suffering from breathlessness, fatigue, poor appetite, regular headaches, weaknesses, etc. If the low level of hemoglobin persists, then it may also lead to anemia. In India, more than 50% of girls are anemic. One should get the hemoglobin count test done from time to time. And if it is low, then they should immediately consult a doctor.

To improve the hemoglobin count in the blood, one should take supplements of iron and iron-rich food items. Women who are pregnant or suffer from heavy or irregular mensuration cycle.

1)    Nuts

You can consume nuts two to three times a day. It has iron content in a considerable amount. At least make sure that you eat almonds daily because it is few of those nuts that have high iron content. Even if you manage to consume 4-5 pieces, it will contribute individually to the amount of iron that is needed. Apart from this, you can also have peanuts & groundnuts.

2)    Fruits

Now, who doesn’t loves eating fruits? It is a food item that everyone loves eating. The best part of this habit is that it helps to increase hemoglobin in the blood and the blood count starts elevating simultaneously. Eat lots of fruits such as guava, pomegranate, strawberries, papaya, apples, watermelon, raisins, figs, etc. to increase the blood cells. Certain fruits that have citric acid present in them such as grapefruit, orange, amla also are an excellent source to increase hemoglobin level.

3)    Red Meat

It is another good source to increase hemoglobin. It is one of those few fruits that is rich in hemoglobin. Red meat contains haem iron that our intestine easily absorbs. However, you should not have it in a large amount since it is not good for heart’s health. Therefore, eat red meat combined with a balanced diet.

4)    Vegetables

Vegetables are those superfoods that help in the overall enhancement of not only for hemoglobin in red blood cells but also other vital nutrients as well. You should include vegetables such as tomato, spinach, capsicum, pumpkin, kidney beans, sweet potato, cabbage, cauliflower, pumpkin, etc. in your diet for the presence of hemoglobin content in proper amount in the blood.

5)    Whole Grains

Whole grains are another food items that are good to increase hemoglobin count. Food items such as bread, pasta, chapattis, cereals, oats etc. should be a part of your daily diet. These contain those nutrients that are instrumental in the production of red blood cells. If whole grains are a part of your daily diet, then you quickly cover the daily iron intake that is required for your body.

Having a good hemoglobin level is good for women health. It not only makes them healthier, but they are able to perform all the chores without any discomfort. It also keeps various diseases at bay.
